Proof of Authorship to Avoid Plagiarism

- It is highly recommended the submission of MIDI files for any software that can produce one. Noteworthy composer for example, as most sequencers and music software, can produce a MIDI, but people often just submit a MIDI-sounding MP3 instead. There is really no reason in these cases to not submit a MIDI upon request, so why not submit it to begin with? It must be made clear to participants and reviewers that, in these cases, reviewers will review the MP3, and that the MIDI is for visual aid only unless there is some problem with the MP3 (horrible recording, corrupted file, etc.). This solves both the plagiarism issue for some cases and the awful recording issue for others.

- It is required a minimum description length, regardless of language used (there are always translators the reviewers can use!). It gets rid of the annoying cases of "(none)," "bye!," and similar short useless statements that give no information to the reviewer and listeners. Detailed descriptions go a long way to convincing us that the submission is legitimate.

- If sysop or reviewers still have concern about plagiarism that is not cleared up by forum discussion, the composer MUST submit some kind of additional documentation/proof to the sysop directly or attach a SIB or a PDF music-score file to his/her submission, or the piece will be disqualified. The sysop can then decide for himself if it is sufficient proof, or send an e-mail to the reviewers if other opinions are needed, or use the Contest forum. It may be that not even all reviewers need to be contacted, only those with detailed knowledge of the genres in question.

- Any pieces where the author has failed to submit requested information by the review deadline will be disqualified.
