1 01  Drop, Drop, Slow Tears by Tom Drisceoil (2006-05-30)
MidiEngine: Audigy. Sequencer: Sibelius. MidiFont: CLabs standard. This is the third of a set of three anthems which I'm writing at the moment. The text is well-known, particularly in the setting by Orlando Gibbons, which is a favourite Anglican hymn. This setting is rather different to that of Gibbons, and is in the style of the other two anthems. This anthem may be performed by a minimum of six people. The mp3 is a sequence of a string ensemble playing the piece, since I dislike vocal oohs and aahs.

2 02  When David Heard That Absalon Was Slain. by Tom Drisceoil (2006-06-26)
MidiEngine: Audigy. Sequencer: Sibelius. MidiFont: CLabs standard. This anthem was written in one single day in January, during a stay in hospital for a minor injury. I had recently heard the setting by Eric Whitacre, which is exceptionally long; this prompted me to rummage through my rather disorganised collection of Sacred Choral scores for the settings of Tomkins and Weelkes, which I already knew quite well. The latter two settings inspired me to write an anthem for six voices, to the same words. Apart from one chord, this score is exactly as I wrote it in January.

3 03  Amor Patriae by keyboardhead (2004-06-19)
In my country, there was a "state funeral" for a former head of state in June 2004. It lasted several days and was televised around the clock. I detested his policies but always liked him personally. Anyway, old cynic that I am, I was surprised to find that I was very impressed and affected by the whole civic ritual and all the traditional music during the week of ceremonies. This song is an attempt to compose a patriotic hymn that is both solemn and a celebration. Obviously, the solemn parts and the parts that are more uplifting and celebratory could have been written as separate songs, but I chose to combine them. I've tried to make this song playable with two hands ("pianistic"), but I might have missed some spots. (Time 3:39)

5 05  Chio by Matthieu Stepec (2008-01-03)
MidiEngine: SBLive. Sequencer: Sibelius 4.0. MidiFont: None. A piece for Choir, based on a poem by Victor Hugo: "L'Enfant", which starts with a quote of Shakespeare: "Oh! Horror! Horror! Horror!". It is ABSOLUTELY necessary to read the score, as most of the effects don't play back: the midi file has nothing to do with the actual piece, it just gives a vague idea of its structure. I can't translate the whole text here, but as the end is extremely important, I'll give it here: "ami, je veux de la poudre et des balles" => "my friend, I want powder and bullets". Also, "hurlement" means "scream". Enjoy.

6 06  Exclamate, Ye Crowns Of Glory! by Dave Albrecht (2006-02-01)
MidiEngine: SB Audigy. Sequencer: Personal Composer. MidiFont: ??. A composition for SATB and organ in contemporary English style. England has one of the finest traditions in the world when it comes to choral music, especially for a liturgical setting, this inspired to write something of my own for this genre. The title was adapted from a Dutch medieval poem.
Let me give a note on writing organmusic for midi, this not easy, not at all. The midi organ is composed of an uncompromising set of mixture/terz/rankett like stops added with ackward 1/4-/1/2 additions. Sometimes it makes me want to pull my hair out, but I've discovered that by adding or substracting some notes here and there, the desired effects can be made but it's still a difficult process.

9 09  Psalm8 - kopie by Mr.Hyde (2010-08-14)
By hand and live performed.. I am so proud, this is the first recording of a live performance of one of my compositions by the Honorary Girls Choir of Pennsylvania. I contacted their conducter in the beginning of this year, by accident I read a request of them on a choral forum that they wanted to perform a new piece to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. I immediately wrote them how enthousiastic I was. The piece had to be for 4 part choir and piano. The HGC is an intermediate choir so couldn't write very difficult stuff but I did something very interesting in the middle part, that's also why I couldn't submit a midi of this (also because my notation program couldn't handle some trpilets). The text is based on Psalm 8.
