Choral Fantasy, Op. 80 by Beethoven (2005-12-30)

A labour of love, I sequenced Beethoven's Fantasia for Piano, Choir, and Orchestra Op. 80 "Choral Fantasy" for the sheer fun of it. This is perhaps the best of Beethoven's lesser known works. As good as it is, it is surprising that few people are familiar with it. It's obscurity might have something to do with the fact that Beethoven used the Choral Fantasy as a testing grounds for themes he would later use in the 'Ode to Joy' finale of the 9th sym. Though there is a definite connection, Choral Fantasy is filled with numerous unique passages not found in the 9th. Hope you enjoy.
